Keiretsu Forum is a global investment community founded in 2000 by Randy Williams in the San Francisco East Bay. Headquartered in San Francisco, it brings together more than 3,000 accredited individuals including private equity players, angel investors, and corporate funds. Through 53 chapters across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia, it connects entrepreneurs with investment opportunities. Since inception, it has completed over 1,000 funding rounds and directed more than $1 billion into startups each year, applying a collaborative model that taps into an extensive network of capital and expertise.
The group evaluates opportunities in sectors such as technology, healthcare and life sciences, consumer goods, real estate, automation and energy. Typical investment sizes range from $200,000 to $20 million, addressing both early and growth stages. It collaborates with universities, venture firms and corporate partners to maintain a steady flow of vetted deals. It also hosts monthly meetings and online sessions, enabling investors and founders to network and exchange insights. Entrepreneurs can present proposals, receive feedback and conduct due diligence in specialized committees, including a review panel for artificial intelligence ventures.
Cleantech and battery technology form a significant part of its portfolio. Recent investments through the Northwest & Rockies chapter include Joule Case, which develops portable and stationary battery systems, and Soteria Battery, focused on improving lithium-ion safety. Other examples are Vartega, which recycles carbon fiber materials, and Steelhead Composites, making lightweight pressure vessels for hydrogen and clean energy. This focus supports startups that are advancing energy storage and sustainable manufacturing solutions.
