Company Overview

Scantech, founded in 1992 and headquartered in France, designs and manufactures inline measurement and quality-control systems for continuous production of flat materials. Since 2003 the company has been led by two physicists formerly at CERN. Scantech employs about 250 people across Europe, Asia and the Americas and operates R&D and assembly centers that support global installation, maintenance, spare parts and training. The company’s mission is to deliver precise, non-contact measurement tools that reduce scrap, improve process control and support high-volume manufacturing in sectors such as batteries, extrusion and laminates.

Battery Technology

Scantech combines low-energy X-ray transmission with laser, infrared and microwave sensors to provide non-contact, inline measurement of thickness, coat weight, density, profile and defects. Systems include auto-calibration, high-resolution visual inspection and process-feedback control for real-time adjustments on coating, calendering and slitting lines. Low-energy X-rays permit accurate measurement of thin polymer films and metal foils with minimal material impact. The non-destructive approach reduces scrap and energy waste, supports traceability and regulatory compliance, and is configured for high-speed gigafactory production via modular hardware and software integration.

Products

Scantech offers scanners, human-machine interfaces, control systems and inspection modules for online quality control. Key features include non-contact X-ray and optical sensors, automated calibration, high-resolution imaging and data traceability. Products support electrode coating, separator film production, foil handling, slitting and lamination, serving EV battery makers, energy storage, consumer electronics, extrusion and metal industries. Local subsidiaries provide installation, spare parts, maintenance and operator training.
