Ionic Mineral Technologies (Ionic MT) announced the appointment of Dr. Rajan Patel as Head of Battery Materials, effective January 2025. Dr. Patel brings a wealth of experience in advanced battery material development, particularly in silicon-based anode materials, and is expected to significantly contribute to the company’s ongoing innovations in energy storage technologies.

Dr. Patel has a distinguished background in bridging the gap between laboratory research and large-scale manufacturing. Prior to joining Ionic MT, he was a founding core team member at Group14 Technologies, where he played a key role in expanding production capabilities to multi-ton scales. He spearheaded process development for a 2,000-ton-per-year facility in South Korea and oversaw two additional sites in Moses Lake, Washington, all while driving continuous improvements and innovations in process methodologies.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Patel was a significant figure at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. There, he led the development of silicon-carbon composite electrodes for a major consumer electronics company. His expertise in Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and large-scale production processes contributed to establishing robust pathways for commercialization, enhancing his reputation for delivering impactful results on a commercial scale.
