Samsung SDI plans to begin mass production of all-solid-state batteries in 2027, marking a major leap forward in battery technology and manufacturing capabilities. The company aims to achieve an impressive energy density of 900 Wh/L with its solid-state batteries. This level of energy density is expected to significantly improve the performance and range of electric vehicles and other electronic devices.

With an impressive energy density of 900Wh/L, the all solid-state battery offers a 40% increase over the current prismatic battery product, with mass production planned by 2027. In addition, Samsung SDI’s ultra-fast charging technology allows the batteries to be charged from 8% to 80% in just 9 minutes, with mass production planned by 2026. With mass production targeted for 2029, the new battery solution under development is projected to last more than 20 years, more than doubling the lifespan of current market offerings.
This announcement was made in anticipation of the InterBattery 2024 exhibition, a major event focused on rechargeable batteries. However, Samsung SDI has been cautious about announcing a timeline for volume production of its solid-state batteries. Nevertheless, this announcement represents a significant commitment to the development and commercialization goals of the company.
