Volkswagen has achieved a notable efficiency milestone with its ID.7 Pro S electric vehicle, which covered 941 kilometers (approximately 584 miles) on a single battery charge during testing in Nardò, southern Italy. This distance exceeds the vehicle’s previously estimated maximum WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure) range of up to 709 kilometers by an additional 232 kilometers, marking an improvement of 32.7 percent.

The test utilized a standard, unmodified ID.7 Pro S equipped with an 86 kWh net battery. Throughout the journey, the vehicle demonstrated exceptional energy efficiency, averaging just 9.2 kWh per 100 kilometers. This rate of consumption is comparable to approximately one liter of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers, underscoring the vehicle’s impressive energy-saving capabilities.

Designed with a focus on both efficiency and performance, the ID.7 Pro S features a low drag coefficient of 0.23, reducing aerodynamic resistance and contributing to its extended range. Its electric drivetrain delivers a maximum torque of 545 newton meters, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds when needed. Additionally, the ID.7 Pro S boasts high charging capabilities of up to 200 kW, enabling the battery to regain enough energy for 244 kilometers in just 10 minutes. Charging the battery from 10 to 80 percent takes approximately 26 minutes, facilitating longer trips with minimal downtime.

As the ID.7 Pro S prepares for its production launch, Volkswagen reports increasing demand for the model in Europe. Martin Sander, Volkswagen’s Board Member for Sales, Marketing, and After Sales, noted that the ID.7 has received positive feedback and has become a bestseller for the brand. The ID.7 models are currently outselling the Passat, highlighting their appeal to families and long-distance drivers seeking efficient and practical electric mobility options.
