Avesta Battery and Energy Engineering (ABEE), a subsidiary of Avesta Holding based in Belgium, has started series production of its lithium metal anode next-generation batteries technology. This development establishes ABEE as the exclusive supplier of lithium metal anodes in Europe.
The company’s manufacturing facility produces lithium metal anodes in thicknesses ranging from less than 10 microns to 50 microns. Current production capabilities include standard lengths of 5, 10 and 50 meters with an annual production capacity of over 38 kilometers.
According to ABEE CEO Dr. Rahul Gopalakrishnan, this advancement represents a significant milestone in the energy storage industry. Lithium metal anode technology is expected to enhance the performance of next-generation energy storage solutions due to its high-energy density characteristics.
ABEE intends to foster collaborations with battery manufacturers, OEMs and energy storage providers to facilitate the adoption of this technology. The company specializes in the development of high performance battery cells for electric vehicle and renewable energy applications with a focus on energy density, cycle life and safety features.
