Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), a leading global battery manufacturer, and DHL Group, the renowned logistics company, have signed a strategic agreement to advance sustainable logistics worldwide. Announced on January 27, 2025, this partnership aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in DHL’s logistics parks, reflecting both companies’ dedication to environmental sustainability.

Under the agreement, CATL will provide DHL with state-of-the-art liquid cooling energy storage systems and energy management platforms. These technologies will be integrated into DHL’s logistics facilities, incorporating battery swapping and superfast charging systems. The comprehensive energy storage solutions are designed to optimize energy consumption across DHL’s operations, enhancing the use of green energy sources. This initiative aligns with DHL’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions in logistics by 2050.

In addition to energy solutions, CATL plans to explore developments in electric vehicles, battery recycling, and end-of-life battery management. These efforts will be supported by DHL’s global network of Electric Vehicle Centers of Excellence, fostering innovation in the auto-mobility sector and promoting sustainable technological advancements.

Libin Tan, Co-President of Sales and Marketing at CATL, remarked on the collaboration: “By leveraging DHL’s extensive logistics and operational expertise alongside CATL’s innovative green technology, we are collaborating to deliver groundbreaking sustainable logistics solutions to the industry. Strengthening our partnership with DHL not only helps us meet our sustainability targets but also contributes to fostering a greener future worldwide.”

Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are excited to implement CATL’s energy solutions in our logistics parks while offering our logistics services to CATL. This initiative exemplifies the exceptional partnership and innovative spirit of our teams, illustrating how we are working together toward our shared sustainability goals.”

This strategic agreement builds upon a Memorandum of Understanding signed last year, which outlined cooperation in creating carbon-neutral facilities and electrifying DHL’s pick-up and delivery fleet. DHL has been selected as CATL’s preferred logistics service provider, facilitating the global accessibility of high-quality technology through their EV Centers of Excellence and integrated logistics solutions.
