Chrysalix Venture Capital was founded in 2001 by Wal Van Lierop and Michael J. Brown. Based in Vancouver with an office in Delft, the firm has backed more than 70 startups and raised over $315 million across its funds. Its team draws on more than two decades of experience in industrial innovation and clean technology, working closely with founders who introduce solutions that improve efficiency and cut emissions in sectors with high resource demands.

The firm concentrates on early-stage ventures that enhance sustainability in resource-intensive fields. Investments are paired with strategic support for pilot tests, demonstration projects and commercial scaling. Founders gain access to management and board guidance, intellectual property advice and a global network of industrial partners. Chrysalix has helped portfolio companies secure nearly $500 million in subsequent financing. Its funds include the Carbon Neutrality Fund, which backs technologies for carbon management, resource efficiency, materials reuse, negative emissions and data analytics, and the RoboValley fund for robotics and automation in manufacturing.

The portfolio spans clean technology and energy systems, including General Fusion in fusion power, Svante Inc. in industrial carbon capture, MineSense Technologies for real-time ore sorting, Axine Water Technologies in wastewater treatment, Sortera Alloys for intelligent metal recycling and C2CA Technology in concrete reuse. Chrysalix supports battery ecosystem solutions through Feasible Inc.’s EchoStat platform for live battery analytics and GaN Systems’ power devices that boost efficiency in electric vehicles and data centers. The firm also invests in fast charging infrastructure to support electric mobility.
