Eve Energy has commenced production at its Malaysian facility, marking a significant milestone for the Chinese lithium battery manufacturer in its international expansion efforts. On February 16, the company announced that the first battery unit successfully rolled off the assembly line at Eve Energy’s inaugural overseas plant.
This Malaysian facility is the 53rd plant in Eve Energy’s global network and specializes in producing 21700 cylindrical batteries, which are primarily used in power tools and electric two-wheelers. With an impressive annual production capacity of 680 million cylindrical batteries, the plant represents Eve Energy’s strategic entry into overseas markets, enhancing its ability to serve regions such as Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America.
The establishment of this plant is a crucial step in Eve Energy’s broader strategy to expand its international footprint and improve delivery capabilities globally. According to the company’s announcement on October 20, 2022, Eve Energy Malaysia Sdn Bhd invested up to $422.3 million in the construction of the cylindrical lithium battery manufacturing project. The facility, located in Kulim District, Kedah, Malaysia, began construction in August 2023 and underscores the company’s commitment to connecting with global markets.
In addition to its Malaysian operations, Eve Energy unveiled plans in June 2023 to invest over $1 billion in constructing an electric vehicle (EV) battery plant in Hungary. This investment further solidifies the company’s presence in key international markets and supports its mission to meet the growing demand for EV batteries worldwide.
Eve Energy is recognized as one of China’s largest battery manufacturers. In January, the company reported the installation of 1.53 GWh of EV batteries, securing a 6th place position in the market with a 3.95 percent share, as per data from the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA). This achievement reflects Eve Energy’s substantial role in the global battery market and its ongoing efforts to enhance production capabilities and market reach.
The launch of the Malaysian plant not only signifies a pivotal moment in Eve Energy’s expansion but also highlights the company’s dedication to advancing battery technology and supporting the global transition to electric mobility. As Eve Energy continues to grow its international operations, it remains focused on delivering high-quality battery solutions to meet the evolving needs of the electric vehicle and energy storage sectors.
