FREYR Battery has announced the selection of Austin, Texas, as the location for its new global headquarters. The decision, made public on February 10, 2025, aligns the company’s workforce geographically with its operations and supports its strategy of manufacturing solar modules within the United States.
The new headquarters will be situated at 1211 E 4th St., Austin, TX 78746. Austin was chosen due to its burgeoning talent pool and favorable business climate, which are expected to support FREYR’s corporate development and operational needs.
This announcement coincides with the ongoing ramp-up of production at FREYR’s G1 solar module facility in Wilmer, Texas, which currently employs over 1,000 individuals in the Wilmer and Dallas communities. FREYR anticipates that the establishment of the headquarters will contribute to the creation of more than 1,000 new jobs within the Texas economy. Daniel Barcelo, FREYR’s Chairman of the Board and CEO, stated, “Today marks another important step for FREYR as we execute our strategic plan to establish an integrated U.S. solar + battery storage manufacturing enterprise built on advanced technology. Our global headquarters will be in Austin, Texas—a vibrant and fast-growing hub of renewable energy and advanced technology development. We expect to create over 1,000 new American jobs in the Texas economy and look forward to building our teams in Austin and Wilmer.”
In addition to relocating its headquarters, FREYR has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its 368-acre site in Coweta County, Georgia, for gross sales proceeds of $50 million. The transaction is expected to close on February 15, 2024, with net proceeds of approximately $22.5 million after repaying previously received state and local grants.
FREYR Battery remains committed to establishing a strong presence in the U.S. renewable energy sector and plans to expand its operations further while exploring opportunities to optimize value across its portfolio in Europe.
