Role Overview

As an Expert in Innovation Management for Battery Cells, you will strategically manage PowerCo’s innovation portfolio within the CTO organization. Your role involves aligning innovation activities with development goals, conducting patent landscape analyses, supporting patent filing decisions, and collaborating closely with R&D and legal teams to drive impactful innovation in battery cell technology. This position plays a critical role in shaping the company’s technological leadership and growth in the battery manufacturing sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically manage and align the company’s innovation portfolio with ongoing development activities.
  • Conduct regular patent landscape analyses to identify opportunities, risks, and competitive trends.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to evaluate and prioritize invention disclosures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during the patent filing decision process.
  • Monitor and analyze competitor patent activities to assess potential threats and opportunities.
  • Deliver regular updates and reports on competitive patent landscapes to internal stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed technical degree in chemistry, electrochemistry, materials science, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or comparable field.
  • Strong knowledge of patent laws and regulations related to battery technologies.
  • Experience collaborating closely with legal teams on patent-related matters.
  • Extensive expertise in lithium-ion battery technologies, with focus on electrochemistry or materials science.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into effective innovation strategies.
  • Familiarity with patent analytics tools and databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications/Additional Skills

  • International expertise in the battery market and industry trends.
  • Specialized knowledge in battery chemistry areas such as binders, electrolytes, sodium batteries, or lithium-sulfur batteries.
