LG Chem has secured an agreement to supply cathode active materials (CAM) to Prime Planet Energy & Solutions (PPES), a Japanese joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and Panasonic Corporation. The supply is scheduled to begin in 2026, targeting PPES’s plant in Japan.

PPES, a leading electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturer based in Japan, provides batteries to several global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including Toyota. This collaboration aligns with LG Chem’s global expansion strategy and supports PPES’s EV battery initiatives.

As a prominent supplier of CAM, LG Chem leverages advanced, environmentally friendly technologies to serve a wide range of global customers. Sharing a commitment to a decarbonized society, both companies focus on sustainable and innovative processes to minimize environmental impact while enhancing battery performance.

“Securing the cathode materials supply for PPES is a significant milestone,” said Shin Hak-cheol, CEO of LG Chem. “With our unique product and process technologies and competitive supply chain, we aim to continue forging global collaborations.”
