NEO Battery Materials Ltd. announced on February 6, 2025, that it is scaling up its production capacity to 20 tons annually. This expansion aims to meet the rising demand for the company’s advanced silicon anode materials and to commence mass-producibility testing in preparation for factory-level production.
Following the January 7, 2025, announcement of its P-300 silicon anode’s exceptional battery capacity and cycling performance, NEO Battery Materials is positioning the P-300 series as a viable commercial option for integration into lithium-ion batteries. The company is concurrently conducting full cell evaluations to validate long-term performance while scaling production to support increased demand for its high-performance silicon anodes.
The production increase will address the growing requirements of NEO’s downstream partners, who favor the P-300 series for its compatibility with silicon-graphite anodes. To achieve this scale-up, NEO plans to introduce additional equipment, enhance batch processing capabilities, and optimize its synthesis methods. Furthermore, the company has secured additional facilities in Gyeonggi Technopark to support the expanded production efforts.
In addition to scaling production, NEO Battery Materials is initiating mass-producibility testing. These tests are designed to transition the manufacturing process from pilot-scale operations to full-scale factory production, ensuring that the P-300 silicon anodes can be produced in large volumes without sacrificing quality or performance. The mass-producibility tests will help identify and mitigate potential production bottlenecks, refine process parameters, and manage costs effectively. Leveraging its proprietary particle size and structure technology, along with a modular and scalable process, NEO anticipates a smooth transition to mass production.
Moreover, NEO Battery Materials received a Notice of Allowance from the Korean Intellectual Property Office for a patent titled “Composite nanoparticle comprising non-carbon nanoparticle and carbonaceous layer thereon, and process of preparing the same.” This patent will be officially registered upon payment of the required fees, further strengthening the company’s intellectual property portfolio.
