Northern Graphite Corporation stands as North America’s sole graphite producer, specializing in mining and processing graphite for battery and industrial applications. The company operates three strategic mining projects: the active Lac des Iles Mine in Quebec, the Okanjande Mine in Namibia (set to resume operations in 2026), and the near-construction ready Bissett Creek Development Project. Since its establishment, Northern Graphite has positioned itself as an essential supplier for the growing electric vehicle and energy storage markets, focusing on sustainable development and innovative practices in the graphite sector.

Battery Technology

Northern Graphite’s battery technology division concentrates on developing advanced natural graphite-based materials for lithium-ion batteries. The company’s Battery Materials Group (NGCBM) operates a state-of-the-art laboratory in Frankfurt, where it conducts material analytics and electrochemical characterization. Their primary focus is creating high-performance battery anode materials that enhance cycle life and charging capabilities while reducing electrode swelling.

The company’s proprietary Porocarb® technology represents a significant advancement in battery material science. This advanced porous hard carbon is specifically engineered for next-generation solid-state battery anodes, offering improved energy storage speed and efficiency. Through collaboration with Rain Carbon Inc., Northern Graphite is advancing the development of specialized graphite products for both traditional lithium-ion and solid-state batteries. Their vertical integration strategy ensures control over the entire production process, from mining to final battery-grade materials.

Recent Projects

In early 2024, Northern Graphite achieved significant production milestones at the Lac des Iles facility, implementing a seven-day operational schedule that resulted in a 59% increase in output compared to the previous year. The company successfully restarted its processing facility in January 2025 following scheduled maintenance, addressing strong market demand. Additionally, Northern Graphite announced price increases for its graphite products effective 2025, responding to production costs and market conditions.

Investors

Northern Graphite’s investor base includes several institutional and individual stakeholders. Sprott Asset Management LP maintains a significant position with 3.814% ownership (5,000,000 shares). Other notable investors include Gregory Bowes with 2.109% ownership (2,764,594 shares), William Birge holding 0.9916% (1,300,000 shares), and CEO Hugues Jacquemin with 0.5340% ownership (700,000 shares).
