TAOKE ENERGY and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) have entered into a battery procurement agreement for a total capacity of 300 megawatt-hours (MWh). The agreement was announced on February 20, 2025, during the second day of the World Smart Energy Week exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. The batteries supplied under this agreement are designated for TAOKE ENERGY’s grid-scale energy storage system (ESS) projects scheduled for 2025.
Since 2023, TAOKE ENERGY has concentrated on developing and marketing high-voltage grid-scale ESS solutions in Japan. The company has seen significant growth in its ESS business over the past two years, following a previous procurement agreement for 350 MWh with CATL. This latest agreement underscores TAOKE ENERGY’s ongoing expansion and its commitment to securing reliable battery supplies to support its projects.
Grid-scale ESS has gained considerable traction in Japan’s renewable energy sector, experiencing rapid development and attracting interest from investors, entrepreneurs, and traders. TAOKE ENERGY has leveraged its early market presence to capitalize on these opportunities, positioning itself as a key player in the field. Moving forward, the company plans to continue offering a range of development solutions for grid-scale ESS, aiming to meet the diverse needs of the Japanese market.
To date, TAOKE ENERGY has successfully developed 24 grid-scale ESS projects in Japan, with 11 of these projects being self-invested. The company intends to pursue a combination of self-investment and joint investment strategies in the future, seeking additional partnerships to enhance collaboration and achieve mutual success.
As a long-term supplier, CATL has provided TAOKE ENERGY with safe and reliable battery products consistently. In this latest agreement, CATL has also committed to supporting TAOKE ENERGY with favorable pricing and timely delivery schedules. The partnership aims to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the two companies, allowing them to leverage their respective strengths and explore broader opportunities within Japan’s new energy market.
TAOKE ENERGY’s strategic partnership with CATL highlights the growing importance of reliable battery suppliers in the expansion of grid-scale ESS projects. The collaboration is expected to contribute significantly to the advancement of Japan’s renewable energy infrastructure, supporting the country’s goals for sustainable energy development.
