Toyota Battery also integrates cells into modules and packs with cooling systems and is developing solid-state batteries for commercialization between 2027 and 2028 in collaboration with partners like Idemitsu Kosan.

In 2024, Toyota Battery became a fully owned subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation. It is expanding global manufacturing with the Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina facility operational by 2025 to produce batteries for 300,000 EVs annually, and a new plant in Jinshan District, Shanghai set to supply batteries for Lexus BEVs from 2027 onwards.
Toyota Battery Co., Ltd is 100.0% owned by Toyota Motor Corporation as of 2024. It was originally established as a joint venture with Panasonic Holdings, with Panasonic’s majority stake gradually transferring to Toyota before the complete acquisition.
