IMPACT Clean Power Technology, a leading European manufacturer of custom battery systems, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery production line at its GigafactoryX facility. This development marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth and capabilities in the heavy-duty transportation and energy storage sectors.

The newly launched production line is characterized by its high level of automation and efficiency. It is designed to increase IMPACT’s production capacity from 0.6 GWh to 1.2 GWh in 2024, with the potential to reach 4 GWh in the future. This expansion enables the company to manufacture at least 16,000 complete battery systems annually, representing a substantial increase from its previous capacity of 2,500 units.

Key features of the new production line include:

  • Advanced automation covering assembly, batching, bolting, vision inspection, and various testing procedures.
  • Implementation of the TS7 conveyor system from Bosch Rexroth, capable of handling batteries up to 1.8m x 0.5m x 0.5m and weighing up to 1 tonne.
  • Flex-type design allowing simultaneous production of different battery sizes and scalability for future expansion.
  • Full serialization of the production process, ensuring digital recording of all operations and component traceability.
  • Compliance with IATF 16949:2016 certification, meeting global automotive industry standards.

The production line’s efficiency is highlighted by its ability to produce a complete battery system for heavy transport every 11 minutes. This increased capacity positions IMPACT to meet growing demand in the electric vehicle and energy storage markets.

IMPACT’s CEO, Ireneusz Kazimierski, emphasized the company’s focus on developing high-energy density and safe battery systems, complemented by its proprietary Battery Management System (BMS) technology. The expanded production capabilities are expected to support IMPACT’s ambitious growth plans and ability to serve a broader customer base.

The completion of this production line represents the final phase of investment in GigafactoryX, which now houses IMPACT’s key functions, including R&D, test labs and warehousing, in addition to production facilities. This integrated approach is designed to streamline operations and drive innovation in battery technology development.
