Ionic Mineral Technologies has successfully leased the 4,000-acre Silicon Ridge halloysite property from the State of Utah, in a move to expand its nano-silicon anode battery material production. This strategic acquisition will increase the companies halloysite reserves, which are critical for meeting the growing demand for fast-charging electric vehicles (EVs)
Silicon Ridge, located in Utah County’s Lake Mountains, is located within an extensively studied geological area renowned for its rich clay formations. The property’s halloysite deposits, formed through the alteration of silica-rich volcanic tuffs, have been traced over 1.5 miles North/Northeast and 0.75 miles wide, with clay beds observed to be up to 20 feet thick.
The lease of Silicon Ridge complements Ionic MT’s wholly owned Halloysite Hills deposit, a 550+ acre site boasting 2.4 million tons of high-purity halloysite reserves. Together, these properties establish a robust and diversified clay resource base, ensuring consistent and scalable production of Ionic MT’s flagship Ionisil™ nano-silicon material.
With all necessary permits secured, Ionic MT has initiated trenching operations at Silicon Ridge to evaluate and optimize resource extraction, marking a major operational milestone. This development supports the company’s plan to leverage high-purity halloysite clay for breakthrough silicon anode technologies.
According to Andre Zeitoun, Founder & CEO of Ionic Mineral Technologies, “Securing Silicon Ridge solidifies Ionic MT’s vertically integrated position, enabling us to meet the growing global demand for high-performance, fast-charging lithium-ion batteries. By sourcing these critical materials domestically, we enhance U.S. energy independence and reduce reliance on foreign supply chains.”
Ionic MT remains committed to environmentally responsible mining practices, engaging with local communities to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes. The company prioritizes sustainability while driving economic growth and technological advancement.
