Australian battery manufacturer Novonix has entered into a binding off-take agreement with automaker Stellantis to supply synthetic graphite for Stellantis’ cell manufacturing partners in North America. The agreement spans from 2026 to 2031, Novonix will deliver between 86,250 and 115,000 metric tons of high-performance synthetic graphite from its Riverside facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

“This contract allocates the remainder of our available volumes at our Riverside facility and a portion of volumes to be produced at our planned greenfield facility,” stated Novonix CEO Chris Burns. This agreement underscores Novonix’s continued expansion in the U.S. market, particularly in support of electric vehicle (EV) battery production.

In addition to the Riverside facility, Novonix is progressing with the construction of a new production site in the southeastern United States. The new facility is expected to have an initial production capacity of 30,000 metric tons per annum (tpa), with plans to increase capacity to 75,000 tpa. The expansion addresses the growing demand for synthetic graphite materials used in EV battery manufacturing.

The partnership with Stellantis highlights Novonix’s role in the global shift towards electric vehicle adoption, emphasizing the need for high-performance materials for next-generation batteries.
