India’s GreenLine Mobility Solutions announced plans to invest 4 billion rupees (approximately $45.7 million) to expand its electric truck fleet for Hindustan Zinc, aiming to replace diesel vehicles in its mining operations. The investment supports the miner’s commitment to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, according to a company statement.

Under the initiative, electric trucks will transport materials between Hindustan Zinc’s mines and smelters, reducing reliance on fossil fuels for on-site logistics. GreenLine will also develop a commercial-scale battery-swapping infrastructure to support continuous operations, enabling rapid battery exchanges and minimizing downtime for electric vehicles.

In addition to the electric fleet upgrade, the funding will double Hindustan Zinc’s liquefied natural gas (LNG)–powered truck fleet from 100 to 200 units. These LNG vehicles will handle long-haul transport of finished goods, further cutting the company’s logistics-related emissions profile.

This investment builds on an earlier commitment by GreenLine in April, when the company pledged $275 million to accelerate decarbonization of heavy-duty trucking. That earlier commitment aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions across logistics operations by promoting alternative powertrain technologies and infrastructure development.

Hindustan Zinc, a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources, produces zinc, lead, and silver from operations in India. The shift toward electric and LNG vehicles aligns with broader industry efforts to lower carbon footprints and meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations. By integrating battery-electric and LNG trucks, the miner hopes to demonstrate scalable solutions for heavy-duty transport in the mining sector.

GreenLine Mobility Solutions provides end-to-end electric fleet deployment services, including vehicle supply, charging and swapping infrastructure, and operational support. The company’s work with Hindustan Zinc represents one of the larger single-customer electric heavy-truck deployments in Asia to date, highlighting growing momentum for electrification in industrial logistics.
