QuantumScape Corporation has completed the installation of critical equipment for higher-volume QSE-5 cell production at its San Jose facility, marking a key annual milestone for 2025. The newly outfitted line, known internally as the Eagle Line, represents a fully automated pilot production setup designed to underpin future gigawatt-hour-scale manufacturing by technology licensing partners.

To celebrate this achievement, the company will host an inauguration event at its San Jose headquarters in February 2026. Attendees will include customer representatives, technology collaborators, and government officials. The program will feature a guided tour of the Eagle Line, offering participants an up-close look at the production process.

“Completing this annual goal and inaugurating the Eagle Line is a crucial step forward in our scale-up strategy,” said Dr. Siva Sivaram, CEO and president of QS. “The Eagle Line features our groundbreaking Cobra separator process combined with highly automated battery cell production. It is intended, upon ramp-up, to satisfy customer demand for QSE-5 cells and support future technology demonstrations.”

QuantumScape’s next-generation solid-state lithium-metal batteries aim to deliver improvements in energy density, charging speed and safety compared with conventional lithium-ion systems. The company’s mission is to support the global transition to cleaner energy by providing scalable storage solutions that address both electric vehicle and stationary energy needs.

The Eagle Line pilot line serves as a platform for refining manufacturing workflows, validating cell performance, and transferring know-how to partners preparing to build out large-scale production facilities. Insights gained from this pilot phase will help optimize battery materials, streamline assembly operations and accelerate the adoption of solid-state technology in commercial applications.

With the Eagle Line now complete, QuantumScape is focused on ramping up production, engaging demonstration customers and laying the groundwork for broader licensing agreements. The February 2026 event will reinforce collaborative efforts across the battery and electric vehicle industries as participants explore pathways to next-generation energy storage.
