Business Angels Europe is a federation of business angel networks headquartered in Brussels. It brings together more than 30 member organisations representing over 40,000 angel investors active throughout Europe. By working with policy makers and industry bodies, it helps shape favourable conditions for seed and early-stage capital. Members invest their own funds in private companies and often coordinate syndicates to support high-potential ventures with both funding and operational guidance. Its mission is to champion business angels as drivers of innovation, ensuring startups gain access to both capital and seasoned expertise.
Associates of the federation back opportunities across information technology, life sciences, digital services and other growth areas. Beyond financial contributions, they provide mentorship, sector expertise and introductions to relevant contacts. An electronic pitch platform connects startup founders with investor networks, while collaborative programmes with the European Commission and local partners guide regulatory and funding initiatives that benefit small and medium enterprises. The organisation promotes best practices in cross-border investing and maintains professional standards for member evaluations.
Clean technology and sustainability are major investment themes. Through partnerships with co-investment facilities and the European Angels Fund, members direct capital into businesses focused on renewable energy, energy efficiency and materials recovery. A particular emphasis is placed on battery technologies for grid storage and electric mobility, supporting Europe’s climate neutrality targets and the goals of the Green Deal.
Registered as a Belgian non-profit association, it holds a transparency register entry and publishes its articles of association online. The BAE Club serves as a forum for leading networks to exchange deal flow and industry insights, and a code of conduct upholds transparency and accountability across all members. A dedicated secretariat manages events, research and policy engagement to support the European angel community.
