Company Overview

Lithium Ark Holding B.V., founded in 2021 and headquartered in Maastricht, Netherlands, develops and licenses advanced lithium refining technologies for the battery supply chain. The company focuses on midstream conversion of lithium feedstocks into battery-grade lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate for cathode and cell manufacturers. Its stated mission is to decarbonize lithium refining by enabling lower-energy, low-waste production routes that integrate with Direct Lithium Extraction and recycling streams. Lithium Ark positions its Green+ process as a licensable flowsheet and technical service offering for producers, refiners, and recyclers seeking lower operating costs and reduced environmental impact.

Battery Technology

Green+ Lithium Refining is a patented flowsheet that directly converts lithium chloride brines into battery-grade lithium hydroxide, with an option to produce lithium carbonate by adding CO2. The process uses naturally occurring potassium in brines to reduce or eliminate added chemical reagents and achieves reagent losses below 1% under challenging feed conditions. Designed for DLE and evaporation brines and adaptable to lithium carbonate, lithium sulfate, or recycled black‑mass leachates, the flowsheet recycles reagents and produces no solid salt waste. TRL‑5 validation and ISO14040/44-compliant LCA work report marked reductions in energy use, CO2 emissions, and water consumption versus conventional routes.

Products

Lithium Ark licenses the Green+ refining flowsheet and provides process engineering, commissioning support, and technical consultancy. The solution produces battery-grade lithium hydroxide (LiOH-BG) or lithium carbonate (Li2CO3-BG) and is aimed at brine producers, DLE operators, chemical refiners, cathode manufacturers, and recyclers. Key benefits include lower operating costs, reduced reagent logistics, and a smaller carbon and water footprint for EV, grid storage, and consumer electronics supply chains.
