Maersk Growth is the corporate venture capital arm of A.P. Moller – Maersk, headquartered in Copenhagen. Launched in 2017, it acts as the global partner for external innovation, aiming to digitize, democratize, and decarbonize supply chains. The team has backed more than forty startups that introduce new models and technologies to shipping and logistics.
Maersk Growth combines equity investments—typically Series A and B, with some seed-stage rounds—capped at five million dollars per deal, and a “venture client” model that runs pilots and commercial trials. Through its Value Beyond Capital approach, Maersk’s procurement, operations, and technical experts assist portfolio companies in testing and refining solutions. Serving as both investor and pilot customer accelerates proof-of-concept and supports Maersk’s Net Zero 2040 targets.
Investment efforts focus on climate tech, supply chain technology, and energy transition. A dedicated fund targets green fuels, energy efficiency, battery systems, electrification, and carbon capture. Portfolio highlights include Prometheus Fuels, which makes electrofuels from captured carbon dioxide, and METHANOLOGY AG, a renewable methanol developer. In battery technology, Maersk Growth backs Altris, creator of sodium-ion cells, and Blue World Technologies, whose high-temperature PEM fuel cells are under trial on Maersk’s methanol-powered vessels.
