Role Overview
As an Automation Engineer at tozero, you will design, implement, and optimize automation systems that drive our battery recycling processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable solutions that support our plant operations and innovation roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automation systems to optimize battery recycling processes from concept through implementation.
- Manage procurement of automation components and systems, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality solutions.
- Develop and run simulations to validate system performance before physical deployment.
- Program, test, and implement PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley) for process control and monitoring.
- Implement SCADA solutions for real-time system visibility and control.
- Wire and assemble electrical cabinets and oversee field equipment wiring and installation.
- Support commissioning activities, including system testing, calibration, and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience as an Automation Engineer in manufacturing or recycling environments.
- Proven hands-on experience in designing and implementing industrial automation solutions.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley) and SCADA system development.
- Experience with electrical wiring, including cabinet assembly and field equipment setup.
- Familiarity with simulation tools and techniques for automation system validation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications/Additional Skills
- Degree in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering (or related field).
- Experience with simulation software such as MATLAB/Simulink or similar tools.
- Strong communication and project management abilities.
- Passion for sustainability and battery recycling technology.
- Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment.
