Battery Technology
ZNL Energy provides two primary technologies for the battery market: the ZNL-NPx Separator and a Zinc-Ion Battery Cell. The ZNL-NPx Separator is a non-porous, fire-retardant component suitable for lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and zinc-ion batteries. It helps eliminate the risk of thermal runaway, extends battery lifespan, and improves stability under demanding conditions. This separator is free from scarce or hazardous materials and is engineered for scalable manufacturing.
The Zinc-Ion Battery Cell is a fully functional battery designed for stationary energy storage applications. It features a zinc carbon anode, a manganese oxide carbon cathode, the proprietary ZNL-NPx separator, and an aqueous electrolyte, making it non-flammable. This cell offers a voltage platform around 1.45V, a power density up to 5C, and an energy density of approximately 100 Wh/L and 90 Wh/kg. It operates effectively from -40°C to +70°C and maintains over 80% capacity retention for more than 4,000 cycles. ZNL Energy licenses this technology to battery manufacturers, supporting a “battery technology as a service” model with continuous research and development updates and technical support.
Recent projects
ZNL Energy has engaged in several projects within the last year. In May 2025, the company was selected to showcase its technologies at the STEP Conference in San Francisco, participating in the Nordic Fund Day. Most recently, on January 19, 2025, ZNL Energy announced a strategic collaboration with High Performance Battery Technology GmbH (HPB) to advance solid-state battery innovation.
