ADS-TEC Energy has completed the installation of a large-scale battery storage system for the municipal utility Stadtwerke Mühlacker in Germany. The project, located at Stadtwerke Mühlacker’s substation, delivers 10 MW of power and offers 20 MWh of energy storage capacity. ADS-TEC Energy managed the full scope of planning, implementation and integration to enhance local energy infrastructure.

Stadtwerke Mühlacker selected ADS-TEC Energy based on the system’s technical performance and the opportunity for long-term operations management with a local partner. “Large-scale battery storage systems are a key building block for the energy systems of tomorrow,” noted Roland Jans, Managing Director at Stadtwerke Mühlacker. “With our first large-scale battery storage system, we are making a direct contribution to grid stability. What was key for us was choosing a solution that is developed and integrated in Germany, meeting our high standards for security, availability and long-term operations.”
The installation consists of four BESS5000-based battery storage containers, all developed, integrated and commissioned in Germany. This approach ensures a high level of control and planning reliability—crucial factors for municipal operators planning significant long-term investments. The system is designed to balance loads, shift energy over time and support grid stability, while also creating new revenue opportunities in electricity markets.
