Amprius Technologies, a leader in next-generation lithium-ion batteries based on its Silicon Anode Platform, has expanded its Korea Battery Alliance with three additional contract manufacturers following a launch event in Daejeon, South Korea. The new members join a consortium of companies across the lithium-ion battery value chain, offering expertise in materials, component assembly and production equipment. This expansion broadens Amprius’ global manufacturing network and provides direct access to South Korea’s advanced battery production ecosystem, supporting the company’s growth into trusted allied markets.

A primary goal of the Alliance is to ensure compliance with the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act by establishing secure, allied-based manufacturing partnerships. These relationships are designed to strengthen supply chains for defense, aerospace and critical infrastructure applications. “Deepening our partnerships in Korea enables us to scale efficiently while delivering exactly what our customers require,” said Tom Stepien, President of Amprius Technologies. “The Alliance anchors Amprius within a world-class lithium-ion battery manufacturing base and allows us to accelerate SiCore® production within an NDAA-compliant framework.”

South Korean officials also highlighted the importance of this collaboration in driving regional innovation. “South Korea is a global leader in advanced battery technology, and Amprius is at the forefront of next-generation silicon anode innovation,” said Lee Jang-woo, Mayor of Daejeon. “Expanding their partnerships here reinforces the city’s standing as a center for energy and materials innovation and drives new growth across the regional economy.”

With the addition of these contract manufacturers, Amprius’ network now exceeds 2 GWh of global capacity, positioning the company to address rising demand across its key markets. The launch ceremony brought together Alliance members, government representatives, industry experts, researchers and media to discuss production coordination, supplier integration and upcoming execution plans.
