Amprius Technologies, Inc., a developer of high-energy lithium-ion batteries based on its Silicon Anode Platform, has been selected to join the 2025 Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator. The program evaluates technologies that could lower the carbon footprint of Amazon’s device lineup and operations, supporting the company’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon by 2040 under The Climate Pledge.
Chosen through a competitive review process that emphasized climate impact and innovation potential, Amprius’s SiCore® battery platform offers up to 80% greater energy density compared to conventional lithium-ion cells. This increase in energy density can enable longer runtimes, faster charging cycles, and lighter device designs, potentially improving overall energy efficiency across Amazon’s consumer electronics and industrial platforms.
“Participating in the Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator gives us a valuable opportunity to engage with Amazon’s technical and sustainability teams that are working on millions of devices worldwide,” said Dr. Kang Sun, CEO of Amprius Technologies. “We’re particularly interested in exploring how our silicon anode technology could provide more efficient and lightweight energy solutions in industrial, consumer electronics, and mobility-focused platforms.”
“We’re excited to welcome Amprius to the cohort and explore how their battery innovation can support our goals for sustainable product performance across Amazon Devices,” stated Juliette Devaney, Head of Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator.
Amprius’s involvement underscores the growing importance of advanced battery solutions in reducing carbon emissions and accelerating electrification in sectors such as light electric vehicles, aviation, and robotics. By supplying cells with higher energy density and reduced weight, companies like Amprius can support the development of more efficient systems and lower overall environmental impact.
