In November, BYD achieved a notable increase in new vehicle registrations across Europe, while Tesla experienced a decline for the same period, according to data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA). Covering the European Union together with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, the figures show that BYD’s registrations climbed to 21,133 units last month, a rise of 221.8 percent compared with 6,568 units in November 2024. Tesla’s registrations in the broader region fell 11.8 percent year-on-year, to 22,801 units, down from 25,840 units in November 2024.
Looking specifically at the EU market, BYD recorded 16,158 new registrations in November, marking a 235.2 percent increase from 4,821 units a year earlier. Tesla’s EU registrations dropped 34.2 percent over the same interval, to 12,130 units from 18,430 units in November 2024.
For the January–November period, BYD’s European registrations rose to 159,869 units, up 276.0 percent from 42,517 units during the first 11 months of 2024. Over the same span, Tesla’s total dipped 28.0 percent, to 203,382 units from 282,335 units.
Within the EU alone, BYD’s year-to-date registrations reached 110,715 units, representing a 240.0 percent increase from 32,562 units in the January–November period of 2024. Tesla’s EU registrations for the first 11 months decreased 38.8 percent, to 129,024 units from 210,869 units a year earlier.
