Beijing HyperStrong Technology Co., Ltd. and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) have formalized a strategic cooperation agreement designed to support the large-scale deployment of energy storage solutions worldwide. Under the terms of the agreement, HyperStrong will procure a minimum of 200 gigawatt-hours of battery cells from CATL between January 1, 2026, and December 31, 2028.
The arrangement establishes a long-term collaboration framework extending through December 31, 2035. Each year before December 1, the companies will review and update their rolling three-year procurement and deployment targets, documenting adjustments through memorandums of understanding. This mechanism is intended to ensure both flexibility and alignment as market conditions and technology capabilities evolve.
HyperStrong will leverage CATL’s expertise in battery cell production alongside its own strengths in system integration and global project delivery. Together, they plan to explore innovative business models, including the formation of energy storage industry investment funds and the development of an integrated management platform covering project development, investment, operations, and maintenance. The partnership will also pursue collaborative procurement of AC-system components, aiming to improve supply chain coordination and optimize resource allocation.
This deal represents a key milestone in HyperStrong’s strategy to build a diversified, multi-dimensional energy ecosystem. Since its founding in 2011, HyperStrong has delivered over 45 GWh of energy storage systems across more than 300 projects, supported by five manufacturing bases, three R&D centers, two testing laboratories, and a global marketing center.
CATL, recognized for its leadership in new-energy technology innovation, has held the top global market share for electric-vehicle battery supply for eight consecutive years and for energy-storage battery shipments for four straight years. The company has announced goals to achieve carbon neutrality in its core operations by 2025 and across its entire battery supply chain by 2035.
Through this expanded partnership, HyperStrong and CATL aim to strengthen their competitive positions, deepen synergies across the energy storage value chain, and drive ongoing technological progress and industrial upgrading to support the global transition toward cleaner energy.
