Nio celebrated the production of its one-millionth mass-produced vehicle on January 6 at its F2 factory in NeoPark, Hefei. The milestone car, a third-generation ES8 SUV, was donated to the Anhui Mozi Quantum Technology Foundation to support experts in quantum technology. During the event, Nio also introduced a commemorative limited edition of its ET9 sedan.
This achievement comes nearly 20 months after the company passed the 500,000-vehicle mark and follows Nio’s 11th anniversary in November. Founder, chairman and CEO William Li said the company plans to sustain annual sales growth of 40% to 50% moving forward.
To support its expansion, Nio intends to scale both its charging and battery swap networks to more than 10,000 stations each by 2030. As of early January, the company operates 3,683 battery swap stations and 8,542 charging stations across China. In December 2025, Nio delivered a record 48,135 vehicles, bringing full-year deliveries to 326,028 units—a 46.88% increase compared with the previous year. Cumulative deliveries reached 997,592 vehicles by the end of December 2025.
At the ceremony, Nio also signed a framework agreement with two domestic automakers to jointly build an innovation platform, though further details were not disclosed. In a separate collaboration, the company finalized an industrialization project with Lontium Semiconductor to develop automotive chips.
Since its founding in Shanghai on November 25, 2014, Nio has marked several key milestones. The company’s 100,000th vehicle rolled off the line in April 2021. In May 2024, Nio launched its mass-market sub-brand Onvo, debuting the L60 SUV in September 2024 and the L90 in July 2025. Its Firefly sub-brand followed in April 2025 with the Firefly EV. By the end of 2025, the main Nio brand had delivered 829,609 vehicles, while Onvo and Firefly accounted for 128,569 and 39,414 units, respectively.
This production milestone highlights Nio’s rapid progress in the electric vehicle sector and underscores its continued focus on infrastructure development and strategic partnerships.
