Borski Fund is a venture capital firm based in Amsterdam, founded in 2019 by Simone Brummelhuis and Laura Rooseboom. Inspired by early female investor Johanna Borski, the fund aims to close the gender gap in startup financing by supporting companies led by women or teams with a strong female presence. Since its launch, Borski Fund has raised €40 million and backed more than 20 companies, combining financial support with mentoring and access to an extensive network.
Investments focus exclusively on startups and growth-stage companies with at least one female co-founder holding equity. The fund looks for teams that demonstrate potential for meaningful growth, offering more than capital by connecting entrepreneurs to sector experts and strategic partners TheNextWomen and StartGreen Capital. This targeted approach addresses the fact that female founders receive only a small fraction of available venture funding despite delivering strong results.
Borski Fund has a particular interest in clean technology and battery technology solutions. In early 2024, the fund invested in CarbonX, a Dutch deep tech startup developing sustainable carbon anode materials for electric vehicle batteries. It also backed DUDE CHEM, a Berlin-based green chemistry company creating eco-friendly processes for manufacturing critical components. These investments reflect the fund’s commitment to hardware innovations that support environmental objectives while championing gender diversity.
