Ecobat’s core technologies include lead-acid battery recycling with a 99% recovery rate producing approximately 840,000 tons of recycled lead annually, and lithium-ion battery recycling using advanced hydrometallurgical processes to recover lithium, cobalt, and nickel. Their facilities feature automated battery identification, discharge, and dismantling systems, alongside advanced emissions management and water treatment controls.
Ecobat operates three major divisions to provide comprehensive products and services to the battery industry. Ecobat Resources is the world’s largest producer of lead and lead alloys used in energy storage solutions. It operates an international network of smelters for responsible recycling and production, as well as reclaiming polypropylene for premium polymer solutions. Ecobat Logistics manages end-of-life battery collection services with a dedicated truck fleet, handling lead batteries and other chemistries, including lithium batteries, as part of closed-loop recycling. Ecobat Solutions provides innovative products through technical consultation and bespoke product development, and is Europe’s only provider of full lithium-ion battery recycling capabilities (collection, discharge, diagnostics, dismantling, and crushing/sorting to produce black mass), as well as research collaborations with universities and government entities to advance energy storage technologies.
In 2024, Ecobat expanded its lithium-ion battery recycling operations by adding new processing capabilities, initiated the renewal of its California lead battery recycling facility for environmental compliance, and released its second annual Sustainability Report highlighting improvements in energy management and environmental protection.
