Specializes in lithium-ion battery materials and production processes, focusing on high-performance battery chemicals (nickel and cobalt sulfates) via subsidiary Terrafame. Through joint ventures, develops cathode active materials (CAM) in Kotka (60,000 t/y) with Easpring Finland New Materials, and precursor CAM (pCAM) in Hamina with CNGR Finland using low-carbon processes. Advances lithium processing via Keliber to produce 15,000 t/y battery-grade lithium hydroxide by 2026, including spodumene mining and concentration.
Produces nickel sulfate and cobalt sulfate battery chemicals; CAM (60,000 t/y) facilities in Kotka; pCAM facilities in Hamina; and battery-grade lithium hydroxide (15,000 t/y) via integrated spodumene processing.
In 2024, the Easpring Finland joint venture secured environmental permits for the CAM plant in Kotka; CNGR Finland received preliminary environmental approval for the pCAM facility in Hamina; and assessment work began at the Sokli mining site for phosphate and rare earth element extraction.
