Innovation Industries is a Dutch venture capital firm based in Amsterdam, managing about €900 million in assets since 2000. The team brings expertise in engineering, materials and applied sciences to invest in technology companies across the Benelux region that address fundamental technological and societal challenges. The team includes experts in biophysics, engineering and chemistry. Since its founding, it has partnered with entrepreneurs to grow companies that tackle pressing challenges. The firm is a member of the Dutch Association of Private Equity and Venture Capital Firms (NVP).

The fund focuses on deep technology across sectors including high-tech systems and materials such as semiconductors and integrated photonics, health technology in medical devices and digital health, digital technology in artificial intelligence, environmental technology and food and agrotech. It supports companies from early-stage startups to growth-phase enterprises and works closely with research institutes such as Twente, Eindhoven, Wageningen, TNO and ECN to source innovations. The team’s industry knowledge helps portfolio companies overcome technical and regulatory hurdles. Beyond financing, the firm offers strategic and operational support aimed at sustainable competitive advantages and positive environmental, social and economic outcomes.

In environmental technology and energy storage, Innovation Industries has backed ventures like Carbyon, which develops direct air capture systems for efficient CO₂ removal; LionVolt, a startup creating solid-state lithium-ion batteries with higher energy density and faster charging; and Battolyser Systems, which produces an alkaline electrolyser with integrated battery functionality to convert and store renewable electricity as hydrogen. These investments reflect its commitment to hardware solutions that support resource efficiency and the transition to low-carbon energy.
