SERI Industrial develops lithium-ion and lead-acid battery technologies, with a primary focus on Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) cells produced in pouch and prismatic formats at its Teverola plants. It maintains lead-acid battery manufacturing for industrial traction and stationary storage and is engaged in R&D for solid-state and sodium-ion batteries. The company also operates advanced recycling lines for both lithium and lead-acid batteries, recovering active materials to support its circular economy commitment.
SERI Industrial S.p.A. currently produces a small volume (0.35 GWh/year) of lithium battery cells at Teverola 1, but two new high-capacity LFP cell facilities—each targeting 8 GWh per year—are not yet operational and are expected to enter production starting in 2026. Their products include: Pouch-format LFP cells and prismatic LFP cells from the Teverola factories; lead-acid batteries for industrial traction and stationary storage; electric buses manufactured by subsidiary Industria Italiana Autobus.
In 2024, SERI Industrial partnered with Eni to develop battery manufacturing and recycling facilities for stationary energy storage and active material production in Brindisi, Italy. It expanded the Teverola gigafactory with the Teverola 2 plant through FIB S.p.A., targeting 8 GWh/year of prismatic LFP cells under the European IPCEI Batteries initiative, secured €150 million financing backed by Italy’s SACE Archimede guarantee and major banks.
