TEESMAT (Open Innovation Test Bed for Electrochemical Energy Storage Materials) is a collaborative platform funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program. Established to support researchers and industries in characterizing and improving energy storage technologies, TEESMAT brings together nine service providers and ten service users across Europe, combining expertise from research institutions and industrial partners. Battery Technology

Advanced characterization techniques for electrochemical energy storage materials, focusing on lithium-ion batteries and emerging storage technologies. Services include X-ray-based characterization, electrochemical assessments, materials characterization, modeling, and data analytics for insights into battery performance, degradation, lithium dendrite formation, and aging mechanisms. Partnerships with facilities like ESRF and ZSW enable specialized studies on electrode preparation, cell assembly, and material scaling.

Expanded commercial services to 35 offerings; research on hybrid lithium-ion supercapacitors addressing degradation pathways; optical microscopy studies of internal short circuits caused by lithium dendrites in collaboration with ZSW; partnerships with ESRF and ZSW for advanced material analysis.
