BIC’s core battery technology capabilities include advanced cell fabrication with small and large-batch mixing, coating technologies, and manufacturing of coin cells, single-layer cells, and prismatic cells. It operates a UL BEST laboratory for cell and system validation, a 4,000 sq ft dry room for prototype development and low-volume production, integrates carbon nanotube technology to enhance energy and power density, and develops large grid array battery systems for microgrid applications.
Prototype battery cells including coin cells, single-layer cells, prismatic cells, and microgrid-scale battery systems.
In 2023 BIC expanded its Indianapolis facilities adding dry room capacity operational in 2024 and incubation areas, launched workforce development courses with Vincennes University, and partnered with X-BATT, Semplastics, and Princeton NuEnergy on a DOE Phase II SBIR-supported energy storage project.
