American Battery Factory, a subsidiary of American Battery Technology Company, has secured multiple offtake agreements for products from its planned gigafactory in Tucson, Arizona. The agreements cover the supply of both cathode and anode active materials as well as precursor chemicals, supporting the plant’s projected annual production capacity of 30 GWh of lithium-ion battery cells.

Under the terms, the factory will deliver more than 20,000 metric tons of cathode active materials (CAM) over the first five years of operation. Offtake partners include leading electric vehicle manufacturers and stationary storage integrators seeking a reliable, low-carbon supply chain for critical battery components. The agreements are structured as binding commitments, with quantities and delivery schedules aligned to customers’ anticipated production ramps through 2030.

The planned gigafactory, encompassing approximately 1.2 million square feet, is slated to begin construction in mid-2026 and reach initial commissioning in early 2028. It will draw on feedstocks processed through American Battery Technology Company’s upstream facilities in Nevada, which refine lithium, nickel, cobalt, and other metals using an integrated hydrometallurgical approach. By co-locating cathode synthesis and cell assembly, the Tucson site aims to minimize logistics and energy consumption.

American Battery Factory said the offtake agreements will de-risk the project’s development phase and support its eligibility for federal incentives under the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act. The company projects that the facility will create more than 2,500 direct jobs and integrate renewable energy sources for up to 50% of its annual power needs.

Matt Ameen, CEO of American Battery Factory, commented, “These offtake commitments validate the strong market demand for domestically produced battery materials. Partnering with established OEMs and energy-storage providers ensures that our Tucson gigafactory will play a central role in America’s clean-energy transition.”
