Ayvens Carmarket, a remarketing platform serving professional car traders and dealers, has introduced State of Health (SoH) certificates for used battery electric vehicles (BEVs) across Europe. Recognizing that the battery is the most valuable component of an EV, Ayvens Carmarket’s initiative aims to provide clear and reliable information on battery condition, which is critical to establishing accurate resale values and expected driving range.

Each SoH certificate indicates the battery’s current capacity as a percentage of its original capacity. Diagnostic assessments are conducted by accredited firms certified by the European Car Remarketing Association (CARA). These assessments draw data directly from the vehicle’s Battery Management System (BMS), which continuously tracks parameters such as voltage, temperature, charging history and usable capacity to determine an accurate SoH rating.

SoH certification is now available in Ayvens Carmarket’s used vehicle showrooms and online platforms in the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands. The company plans to extend the program to most remaining European markets in the coming months.

While initial concerns about battery longevity have persisted, recent data indicate that modern EV batteries retain more capacity than anticipated over time. However, widespread misconceptions about battery health remain a barrier to broader EV adoption, primarily due to a lack of transparent information.

“Battery performance is a key concern for customers considering the purchase of a used EV. With this SoH certification, Ayvens offers more transparency and helps clients to buy with confidence, while supporting a growing second-hand EV market and the transition to electric mobility. The second-hand market is a crucial pillar of the circular economy which helps extend vehicle lifetimes, reduce waste and prepare for the mass adoption of electric vehicles, while contributing to the reduction of C02 emissions.”

Ayvens Carmarket operates across 38 countries, leveraging its extensive geographic reach, competitive pricing and full-service leasing network to supply high-quality used vehicles to professional traders and dealers. The platform’s infrastructure and expertise position it to lead the rollout of battery SoH certification and enhance buyer confidence in used EVs.
