BMW has released images of its new China-made iX3 Long Wheelbase ahead of its global debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. Tailored for the Chinese market, the electric SUV is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2026. Last August, CarNewsChina reported on a camouflaged prototype.

The new iX3 Long Wheelbase retains the exterior styling of its overseas counterpart, with subtle refinements such as BMW’s Digital Angel Wing daytime running lights and a 3D Luminous Grille. The model will be offered in nine colors: Mineral White, Arctic Grey, Marina Bay Blue, Space Silver, Blue Ridge Mountain, Carbon Black, Dune Grey, Flamenco Red and Frozen Space Silver.

Dimensionally, the China-made variant features an extended wheelbase of 3005mm, compared to 2895mm on the international version. Overall measurements remain at 4780mm in length, 1895mm in width and 1635mm in height. At the rear, the horizontal L-shaped taillights are retained, while the badging updates to Brilliance BMW and iX350L, indicating local production and variant designation.

A new central rear camera is integrated into the segmented roof spoiler, supporting advanced driver-assistance features. The iX3 Long Wheelbase will include Momenta’s full-scene navigation-assisted driving function, optimized for highways and urban environments in China.

Inside, the SUV follows BMW’s latest interior design, highlighted by a panoramic integrated sunshade sunroof. BMW has partnered with Alibaba to develop a bespoke large language model technology, incorporating DeepSeek’s AI capabilities and on-board AI agents. The infotainment system will support the HarmonyOS ecosystem and Huawei HiCar digital services.

Performance is handled by BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive electric drive technology on an 800V architecture. The system includes a 108kWh battery, a front asynchronous motor and a rear excited synchronous motor, producing 345kW (463 hp) and 645Nm of torque. This configuration enables a 0–100km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds. The CLTC-rated range exceeds 900km, with an energy consumption of 15.1kWh/100km. Fast charging allows for a 427km top-up in approximately ten minutes.
