Factorial Energy and Tulip Tech have launched a strategic partnership to commercialize solid-state and lithium-metal UAV batteries. Early flight tests yielded a 30% range boost, paving way for joint customer engagement and volume production.

Factorial Energy has entered a strategic partnership with Tulip Tech Group B.V. to advance the commercial deployment of solid-state and lithium-metal batteries for next-generation unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Early flight tests of the new battery cells demonstrated more than a 30% increase in flight range before any engineering optimizations were applied. These results have led both companies to establish a commercialization framework featuring joint customer engagement and a roadmap toward volume production.

Tulip Tech, based in the Netherlands, specializes in designing and manufacturing custom high-density battery packs for UAVs. The company combines lightweight construction, strict safety protocols and European production quality to meet diverse mission requirements. With a client base spanning defense, security and commercial sectors—and experience delivering over 100,000 battery packs in a single month—Tulip Tech will leverage its integration expertise and manufacturing scale to bring Factorial’s solid-state cell technology into operational drone applications.

Factorial Energy, a developer of solid-state battery platforms, has targeted aerospace as a key high-performance market following success in automotive applications. Last year, its automotive cell platform supported a single-charge drive of more than 1,200 kilometers. The recent UAV flight trials mark the first long-distance aerial demonstration using its lithium-metal platform, achieving a substantial range gain for drone operators.

Demand for extended-endurance UAVs is growing across commercial, industrial and defense markets as missions become more distant and data-intensive. Energy storage remains the primary bottleneck to increasing mission radius, payload capacity and regulatory approvals. The global UAV market is projected to exceed $160 billion by 2034, further underscoring the value of battery innovations that can raise performance ceilings for unmanned systems.
