LG Energy Solution has announced its participation in SDVerse, marking the first time a battery manufacturer has joined the global B2B marketplace for automotive software. By entering this marketplace, the company aims to extend its expertise beyond cell production to software tools and services tailored for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs).
Launched in 2024 by a consortium including General Motors, Magna, and Wipro, SDVerse provides a centralized platform where software vendors can list solutions and automakers or suppliers can evaluate offerings based on functionality, security, and integration requirements. As the industry shifts toward vehicles whose capabilities are driven by embedded software, SDVerse seeks to streamline innovation by facilitating discovery and deployment of digital solutions.
Through SDVerse, LG Energy Solution is introducing five key software modules designed to enhance battery performance, safety, diagnostics, and lifespan management.
Battery Platform SW offers a comprehensive view of cell health, leveraging the company’s established battery management system architecture in an SDV-ready format.
The Safety Diagnostic Calibration Tool supports in-house safety assessments and simulation validation using proprietary battery data, reducing reliance on external sources while maintaining data security.
Onboard FRISM (Cell Data Free SOH Model) employs machine learning–based error correction to estimate state of health without requiring cell-level test data.
Onboard BLiS (Battery Life Simulator) numerically predicts degradation under various usage and charging scenarios by analyzing voltage, current, and temperature trends.
Onboard DASH (Degradation Reduction Action Strategy for Battery Health) continuously monitors operational patterns and offers real-time guidance to mitigate long-term aging effects.
Prashant Gulati, CEO of SDVerse, welcomed LG Energy Solution’s participation, noting that deep battery expertise combined with software intelligence can accelerate SDV development.
Je Young Kim, CTO of LG Energy Solution, emphasized that integrating battery software into this marketplace underscores the company’s commitment to vehicles as evolving software platforms and ensures battery intelligence is embedded throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
With more than two decades of battery management development, over 10,000 related patents, and recent recognition at CES for its software-driven battery life management solution, LG Energy Solution plans to leverage SDVerse to reinforce its position as a comprehensive provider of energy and software services in the automotive sector.
