LibertyStream Infrastructure Partners has completed its first shipment of lithium carbonate to a U.S. industrial customer, marking a key milestone for its Texas-based extraction and refining operations. The product was delivered from the company’s direct lithium extraction (DLE) unit and lithium carbonate refining facility at the Select Water Solutions site in Howard County, Texas, north of Midland.
The one-tonne delivery represents LibertyStream’s initial U.S. order and its first customer shipment from the Select site. The material was produced to meet the purchaser’s technical specifications and forms part of the company’s ongoing customer qualification and commercial sales processes. According to LibertyStream, moving from on-site deployment and initial production to active customer delivery is an important step in validating its model ahead of broader rollout.
Installation and construction of the lithium carbonate operating facility were completed in March 2026, ahead of schedule, and production has since commenced in the refining unit. Engineered to produce both battery-grade and technical-grade lithium carbonate, the unit incorporates lessons learned from earlier field operations to support consistent performance and build production history.
With production now underway, LibertyStream expects to leverage the Select site as a core operating and validation platform while preparing for the construction of a larger Texas facility. That next facility is designed to reach an annualized production capacity of up to 1,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate by the end of 2026. The company plans to apply its proprietary DLE technology in other high-volume U.S. oilfield basins, including the Permian and Bakken, using existing oil and gas infrastructure to help reduce capital costs and project risks.
LibertyStream aims to serve both battery-grade and technical-grade markets and continues to qualify additional industrial and battery customers. The successful delivery of the first tonne underlines the company’s progress in advancing from pilot-scale operations to commercial sales.
