Lyten has announced key executive appointments in Sweden and Poland, following its recently disclosed acquisition of Northvolt’s European assets. The new leadership team, all of whom have extensive experience with Northvolt operations, will assume their roles immediately to support seamless integration and continued production.
Matthias E.J. Arleth has been named CEO of Lyten Sweden, headquartered in Stockholm, reporting directly to Lyten CEO Dan Cook. Arleth, an engineer with more than 25 years of international leadership experience in automotive, energy, and electronics, joined Northvolt a year ago as President of the cell business unit and COO. He played a central role in restructuring operations in Skellefteå and improving production performance at that site.
In Gdańsk, Poland, Robert Chryc Gawrychowski will serve as CEO of Lyten Poland, also reporting to Dan Cook. Gawrychowski has been with Northvolt Poland since its inception and will oversee battery energy storage system (BESS) operations, including product design and systems integration. His deep familiarity with local operations and customer requirements is expected to accelerate the plant’s restart.
Markus Danglemaier will continue as CEO of Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, reporting to Arleth. Bringing more than 20 years of automotive industry experience, Danglemaier joined Northvolt last year to address scaling challenges and will now lead ongoing cell manufacturing efforts.
Sami Haikala, who has led Northvolt Labs in Västerås since 2022, will remain as CEO of that facility under Lyten’s Swedish operations. Reporting to Arleth, Haikala will focus on enhancing lithium-ion NMC products and collaborating with Lyten’s San Jose team to advance lithium-sulfur battery development.
Dennis van Schie has been appointed Chief Supply Chain Officer for Lyten Sweden, reporting to Arleth. With nearly three decades of experience in automotive, electronics, and chemical industries, van Schie will manage procurement and logistics to support European production ramps.
Dan Cook emphasized that this leadership group offers both continuity and execution expertise to stabilize and scale operations across Sweden and Poland. As production ramps up, Lyten anticipates hiring thousands of employees in Europe, drawing on both former Northvolt staff and new talent. Further personnel announcements, including progress on the Germany acquisition, will be made in due course.
