NEO Battery Materials Ltd. has secured a CAD 2.5 million purchase order and entered into a joint development agreement with a South Korean industrial robotics firm specializing in autonomous mobile robots, humanoid platforms, and mission-critical service robots. The customer serves global conglomerates and small to mid-sized enterprises in logistics warehousing and manufacturing.
Over the next 24 months, the customer will acquire both prototype and commercial lithium-silicon battery cells and packs co-developed with NEO. The initial prototype packs—designed for field validation—will feature a 12-series configuration targeting 74,000 mAh per cell, equivalent to 3.38 kWh, representing a 45.1% percent increase in energy density over the incumbent 2.25 kWh packs (51,000 mAh) commonly used in industrial robotics. Commercial packs will follow pending certification and integration testing.
“This Purchase Order and JDA for robotics and autonomous systems reinforce NEO’s position as a capable battery solutions provider in diverse end markets,” stated Spencer Huh, Director, President & CEO of NEO. “By developing and manufacturing tailored batteries for AMR and humanoid robotics, NEO is actively creating opportunities to enter into growing sectors that cannot compromise on battery performance and a resilient supply chain. We aim to enable the Battery Innovation Platform promptly to start producing in our new facilities in South Korea.”
Subject to prototype validation and production capacity, purchase volumes may vary according to certification outcomes and deployment schedules. NEO is preparing to commence production at its new facilities in South Korea, leveraging its Battery Innovation Platform to support scalable manufacturing and rapid commercialization.
