On May 15, 2026, Novacium SAS and GH Technologies Co., Ltd. signed a non-binding, non-exclusive Letter of Intent (LOI) at the 18th China International Battery Fair to explore the supply of Novacium’s GEN4 lithium-ion cells and batteries in Asia-Pacific markets. Under this agreement, Novacium will provide its GEN4 cells in both 18650 and 21700 formats, leveraging its silicon-anode technology to support applications in light electric mobility, embedded systems and high-energy-density electronics. Asia-Pacific represents roughly 60% of global demand for cylindrical lithium-ion cells, underscoring the region’s strategic importance.
The LOI establishes a 36-month framework for commercial prospecting and potential distribution of GEN4 products across multiple industry sectors. During this period, both companies will assess market opportunities and technical requirements to determine the feasibility of a definitive supply agreement. Key milestones include technical validation of the cells by GH Technologies’ customers within their targeted applications and the receipt of any necessary regulatory approvals.
GH Technologies’ evaluation of GEN4 cells highlighted a reported capacity above 6,600 mAh and an energy density of approximately 319.9 Wh/kg, along with compliance to international safety and performance standards IEC 62133, UL 1642 and UN 38.3. “Following extensive testing, we entered into this LOI to further evaluate potential business opportunities in Asia-Pacific markets,” said Jacques Shen, CEO of GH Technologies.
Dr. Jed Kraiem, Chief Operating Officer of Novacium SAS, noted that discussions with GH Technologies reflect growing interest in high-capacity lithium-ion solutions: “This LOI supports our ongoing efforts to bring GEN4 battery technologies to key markets in Asia.”
HPQ Silicon Inc., which holds a 36.8% equity stake in Novacium and an exclusive North American license to GEN4 technologies under its ENDURA+ trademark, will continue to oversee development and commercialization efforts in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. “This agreement provides a clear framework for evaluating commercial opportunities for our GEN4 battery technologies in Asia-Pacific,” said Bernard Tourillon, Chairman and CEO of HPQ Silicon.
