POSCO Future M announced three significant updates in late March 2026, reflecting its strategic focus on advanced anode materials, collaborative innovation and corporate governance.

On March 19, the company unveiled plans to develop natural graphite anode materials using methane gas. By employing methane as a carbon source, POSCO Future M aims to improve the scalability and environmental footprint of graphite production. This approach could reduce energy requirements and greenhouse gas emissions compared with conventional graphite manufacturing processes, while also enhancing material consistency for high-performance lithium-ion battery applications.

A week later, on March 25, POSCO Future M entered into a memorandum of understanding with Kumho Petrochemical and BEI to jointly develop next-generation battery technologies. The three parties will collaborate on research and development efforts focused on advanced anode and cathode materials, as well as novel cell designs. Through shared expertise in petrochemical processes and battery engineering, the partnership seeks to accelerate commercialization of high-energy-density cells and improve cost competitiveness across the supply chain.

Finally, on March 26, POSCO Future M held its 55th annual general meeting of shareholders. The meeting covered reports on the company’s 2025 business performance and approved the appointment of new directors, dividend distributions and other governance matters. Management outlined strategic priorities for 2026, including expansion of production capacity, strengthening of R&D capabilities, and reinforcement of sustainability initiatives across all stages of the battery value chain.

Together, these announcements underscore POSCO Future M’s commitment to innovation, strategic collaboration and transparent governance. By advancing methane-based graphite synthesis, forging industry partnerships and engaging shareholders, the company is positioning itself to meet growing demand for high-performance battery materials while addressing environmental and market challenges.
