On December 17, 2025, QuantumScape announced that it has met its annual commercial engagement target for 2025, highlighted by a newly signed joint development agreement (JDA) with a Top-10 global automaker. This milestone marks the culmination of a year focused on expanding partnerships across the automotive and battery value chains.

Over the past twelve months, the company has broadened its collaboration network through several key activities:

  • An expanded collaboration and licensing arrangement with PowerCo, the battery manufacturing arm of the Volkswagen Group.
  • Joint development agreements with two leading global automotive OEMs.
  • A technology evaluation agreement initiated with another major automaker.
  • Agreements to develop high-volume ceramic separator production capabilities in partnership with Murata Manufacturing and Corning.
  • Hosting its second annual Solid-State Battery Symposium in Kyoto, Japan, which welcomed automakers, technology partners and regulatory representatives.

These engagements support QuantumScape’s strategy to build a robust solid-state battery ecosystem. The company’s next-generation lithium-metal technology aims to deliver higher energy density, faster charging and increased safety for electric vehicles.

“2025 has been a banner year for QS, and this JDA with a Top-10 automotive OEM customer is a fitting capstone for our successful commercial engagement efforts this year,” said Dr. Siva Sivaram, CEO and president of QS. “We intend to carry this momentum forward as we engage with customers and expand our stable of QS ecosystem partners.”

QuantumScape continues to pursue partnerships that will enable large-scale manufacturing and deployment of its solid-state cells. The company’s focus on joint development, licensing and high-volume process development positions it to support automakers and other stakeholders in their transition to sustainable, high-performance electric mobility.
